As pert the statistics from MIIT, China 3G subscribers have increased to 9.77 million till the end of October this year, including 3.94 million China Mobile TD users.
According to the data, 3G investment has been made step by step. Three main telecom enterprises have invested 102.3 billion yuan in total, which is 72.3% of annual investment plan. The total amount of annual investment plan is 143.5 billion yuan. The network construction has made great progress, network coverage has been gradually expanding, and the quality of network has been improved.
China Telecom has completed the first phase of construction project, including 0.117 million base stations construction and network coverage of 342 cities, 2055 counties and 6,000 villages.
The second phase of China Mobile TD network construction has been completed as well. 46,000 base stations in 38 cities have been put into commercial operation. Furthermore, the quality of services is stable. The third phase of this project includes 42,000 base stations in 200 cities, which finished biding stage. After that, the network construction has been carried out. Till the end of October, 97% of new cites location has been selected, 95% of device transformation has been completed, 75% of single station has been tested and the whole project is expected to be finished by the end of this year.
Since first of October, China Unicom has begun to launch 3G services in 285 cities around China.(Alice He)
