"The end products based on TD-SCDMA are slated to be launched for the first time in June next year, and the Phase-1 products most likely would be TD Internet accessing cards," said Wang Jianzhou,CEO of China Mobile, the nation’s largest mobile operator.
Wang said, "Qualcomm has made clear to provide TD-LTE chips in June 2010, besides this, some other chip manufacturers have also said that they would offer TD-LTE chips before June 2010."
"Most likely in June, China Mobile will launch TD-LTE end products, the first phase of launch will be the data cards, with a downlink speed of over 100Mbps." said Wang.
China Mobile reportedly has set up a TD-LTE test network in Shanghai World Expo Park, which would be the world's first commercial TD-LTE test network, and during the next year's Expo, it would start to work.
China Mobile plans to carry out large-scale pilot projects based on TD-SCDMA from Q2, 2010, when the number of base stations will exceed 100. So far, Motorola, Ericsson, ZTE, Putian, Datang Mobile and other companies have launched their own TD-LTE solution for China Mobile.
