Telecom service providers in China are expected to continue to roll out Android-based handsets, despite Google's decision to move its search service out of China, according to sources at Taiwan handset makers.
China's three 3G carriers - China Mobile, China Unicom and China Telecom - have all entered the development of devices supporting the Android platform, building up their respective supply chains and ecosystems for the production of Android handsets and other devices, the sources indicated.
Telecom carriers in China will simply remove the Google search engine from their Android-based handsets without affecting other functions, the sources noted.
