The WAPI testing Lab organized by WAPI Industry Union has been established .It will provide WAPI industry with technical support and testing service.
At the same time, it will help the manufacturers to develop WAPI-based products and solutions, for products consulting and interoperability testing.
The lab can now carry out the consistency test of WAPI protocol, WAPI multi-faith certification technology test, WAPI roaming test, WAPISOM system test, and so on.
The building of WAPI testing Lab provides for the healthy development of WAPI industry, ensure the interoperability and consistency between manufacturers, and promote the service capability of WAPI Industry Union with a favorable service platform.
Moreover, the lab provides members of the union with testing service for free. However it will charge the manufacturers, who are not the members of the union for consulting and testing serving.
At this moment, all carriers in China are deploying their own WLAN networks, especially, covering the hot areas, as the complement of existed 3G network technology, although the security problems are still exist in Wi-Fi(802.11i) technology. WAPI, the WLAN network technology independent R&D (research and develop) by China can solve the security shortage of Wi-Fi networks.
According to report, nowadays WAPI has become the necessary condition for governments to purchase wireless LAN products. Telecom carriers, such as China Mobile, China Telecom and China Unicom have also accepted it.
