On 28 December, China Unicom announced that it has completed the field test of WCDMA international roaming services in 33 famous tourism countries.
The company officials said that the field test of WCDMA international roaming services was great and the company will supply high quality 3G telecommunication services for tourists who plan to traveling aboard.
Currently, China Unicom has launched international roaming services in 271 countries and regions. Besides, China Unicom has cooperated with 126 operators in 64 different countries for offering 3G roaming services. With the coming of traditional Chinese festivals, Chinese will be travelling aboard. To satisfy the telecommunication demands of these travellers, China Unicom will push hard the international roaming services test and optimisation.
According to official, China Unicom presently has sent 20 international roaming test groups to 33 countries and regions, and has deployed 3G international roaming field test in 66 overseas operators’ networks. China Unicom test groups have evaluated all services, which user may use, such as Call, SMS, Mobile Internet, MMS, **100 Services. The text result turned to be good.
To improve the quality of international roaming services, China Unicom plan to send 15 test groups to carry on field test aboard in 2010.
Since the commercial use of WCDMA, China Unicom is very active in international services deployment. Since 28 Septemeber 2008, China Unicom had launched visual phone roaming services in Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan regions.
