Kuala Lumpur, 14 January 2010 – Greenpacket, a leading developer of next generation mobile broadband and networking solutions and the international arm of Green Packet Berhad (GPB) listed on the main board of Bursa Malaysia, aims to be the World’s No.1 WiMAX Modem vendor and connectivity solutions provider by the end of 2010.

“In just two years within the WiMAX space, we have become the World’s No.3 WiMAX Modem vendor with 14% share of the global market in 2009. Currently our connection management solution is the preferred choice in APAC but we have set our sights to take on a leading position in the world” said Kelvin Lee, Senior General Manager of Greenpacket.

Greenpacket began developing its full range of indoor, outdoor and USB modems for its sister company and 4G WiMAX operator arm, Packet One Networks (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (“P1”). P1 is amongst the top WiMAX operators in terms of subscriber numbers. Greenpacket has since broadened its horizons and deployed its award-winning WiMAX Modems and connectivity solutions to over 35 telcos across six continents.

“We have done the ground work to establish our credibility within the international 4G WiMAX community,” said Lee.  “We recently launched our next generation modems which proved our commitment to R&D and to delivering innovative, quality products. This new range has garnered strong interest from operators around the world. ”

In 2010, Greenpacket expects to launch more WiMAX Modems, WiMAX-enabled devices and carrier solutions that give operators the competitive advantage when it comes to keeping up with the growing and sophisticated demands of subscribers.

Greenpacket targets to increase its shipment volume by at least three-fold in 2010 and plans to double its sales force and expand its geographical presence to the USA, Central and Latin America, and Europe where it currently has strong traction. The greater proximity to prospects will enable Greenpacket to understand their needs better and to develop stronger business relationships.

In order to achieve its 2010 goals, Greenpacket launched a new go to market brand campaign called ‘New Horizons.’ The campaign reflects Greenpacket’s innovative spirit and readiness in anticipating operators’ needs. It encourages operators to change their perspectives to see new revenue opportunities, build loyal customer bases, and manage cost demands.

“We see a future of limitless freedom in wireless communications. Greenpacket is committed to meeting the needs of our customers with leading edge, better and faster solutions,” concluded Lee.
