Kuala Lumpur, 25 February 2010 – Greenpacket, a leading developer of next generation mobile broadband and networking solutions reports on its strong growth through 2009, which it says is a reflection of its proven business strategy to gain leadership in both the 4G WiMAX and 3G communities worldwide.
Kelvin Lee, Senior General Manager of Greenpacket’s devices and solutions division said the company enjoyed international success with both its software and hardware products proving popular with Operators.
“2009 saw us deploy our connectivity solutions and award-winning WiMAX Modems to over 35 telcos across six continents. In Quarter 4 alone, we signed five deals with customers in Asia and East Europe,” said Lee. “We are very proud to have achieved 15% global market share making us the world’s No.3 WiMAX Modem vendor.”
Lee went on to explain that Greenpacket aims to be the No.1 WiMAX modem vendor globally this year using a two-pronged approach. The company looks to increase its sales by adding more subscribers to already commercialised networks and seeing new deployments globally. And as the current world No. 1 independent CPE vendor that has fulfilled interoperability testing with major tier-one base stations, Greenpacket stands ready to serve mature operators that are adopting a multi-CPE vendor approach. An approach that is popular with Operators looking to provide a good mix of pricing, features and design options to cater to varied subscriber demands.
The Company’s clientele for its carrier solutions and WiMAX devices includes Packet One Networks in Malaysia; Vividwireless in Australia; Vee Telecom and Tatung Infocomm, Taiwan; Globe Telecom, Philippines; and PCCW, Hong Kong.
Sales of the Company’s Intouch Connection Manager (ICM) secured Greenpacket the No. 1 spot as a carrier solution vendor in the Asia Pacific 4G WiMAX and 3G space.
ICM is the industry’s leading intelligent connection management solution offering seamless mobility as well as providing a feasible solution for Operators to offload data and reduce network congestion: A problem that is slated to get bigger with the growing apps store phenomenon. Greenpacket’s ICM will be a valuable and cost effective solution as it utilizes Mobile IP to allow Operators to offload data to a secondary network hence improving their subscribers’ connectivity experience and arresting churn.
Greenpacket had also developed a content delivery platform called Infinit Service Management Platform (ISMP) for Operators to launch, host and manage their own application store and increase ARPU via subscribers’ apps purchases.
Lee said Greenpacket is firmly committed in innovative R&D to cater to today’s market while looking beyond to upcoming trends. Aside from the company’s own R&D team, Greenpacket has formed strategic partnerships with OEM manufacturers and developers to create unique and differentiated products for various markets.
“As a market leader, we are well positioned to understand market needs. Hence, we are better equipped to customise solutions based on market opportunities and our strategic partners’ engineering abilities. This year we expect to launch more WiMAX Modems following the success of the recent launch of our Wave2 WiMAX modems – the Tower and Shuttle.”
Greenpacket plans to double its sales force and expand its geographical presence in the USA, Central and Latin America and Europe to solidify its already strong traction. With the proximity, the Company hopes to gain further insights on the local markets, and be able to better serve its customers with strong servicing and support.
