One of the hottest concepts at present in China is the Internet of Things. In computing, the Internet of Things refers to a network of objects, such as household appliances. It is often a self-configuring wireless network. China Mobile, the nation’s largest operator, has initially made a plan to develop approximately 2 million machine users in 2010.
On the 24th, at the launching ceremony of China Mobile's Southern Base, the global IT support systems, one of China Mobile's officer said that the South Base will become one of the most important bases of the Internet of Things in China, which will focus on the research and development of M2M (machine to machine) and the Internet of Things.
China Mobile’s base reportedly will focus on e-commerce, terminal innovation, mobile Internet, mobile email, application downloads and Internet of Things. Moreover, China Mobile has opened M2M networking applications in 31 provinces of China and this base will serve for the applications in these regions.
