Over 6 months back, CDMA terminal was predicted to be the most difficult part in the China Telecom’s C network deployment, but now, this thinking has reversed. According to reports from consulting companies, the number of CDMA terminals grew rapidly during 2009. Total sales volume of CDMA terminal has broken 30 million mark. There were 600 kinds of CDMA terminals till the end 2009. At the same time, market share of CDMA terminal has achieved 23%, and terminal purchasing rate reached 72%.
Terminal Vendors Active in Industry Chain
So far, CDMA terminal vendors has boomed from 50 to 200 enterprises, including both Chinese GSM vendors, traditional CDMA vendors and emerging CDMA vendors, such as: Dopod, TCL, BIRD; Samsung, LG, ZTE, Huawei, Nokia, Motorola, Haixin; Aigo, Panda, Konka etc.
CDMA chip market turns from monopolized to competive. Before, Qualcomm was the only CDMA chip vendor in the market, but later, VIAElectronic enrolled in this market.
It is increased from 4 major CDMA distributors to more than 10 distributors in the market, such as, Putian Taili, China Telling Communications, China PTAC Communications Services Co.LTD., Shenzhen Aisidi, Digital China and Funtalk etc.
Terminal management development of China Telecom and China Unicom are going on very well. They already have matured business plans. (Alice He)
