On January 20, the three carriers, China Mobile,China Unicom and China Telecom announced the yearly users data.
As per the last year's data of mobile phone users, China Telecom’s mobile users increased much faster than the other two carriers.China Telecom didn’t take over China Unicom's CDMA network until October 2008, but the total number of users has grown to 56.09 million, with a 100.97 percent increase.
China Mobile now owns 520 million mobile users, an increase of 14.22 percent compared to last year, while China Unicom holds a number of users a bit less than 150 million, the increase rate was 10.66%.
“Thanks to the CDMA, network can now be upgraded through software means quickly to cover the whole country with 3G network, China Telecom could make so great progress,” said Fu Liang, a telecom industry expert,” and the low price strategy also attracted a large number of users for China Telecom. ”(Paul)
