In order to popularize the digital television, China Taiwan province will invest NTD 3 billion to have feedback of those users who purchase set-top boxes, with the aim to realize pure digital scenario in Taiwan by 2010.
Economic Daily citing the official news said that Taiwan needs another 14-million set-top boxes in 2 years, as each family could consume 2 set-top boxes.
"At present, Taiwan has 1.5 million set-top box users, including the broadcast TV users who have installed set-top boxes and digital television users,"said Xie Guangzheng, secretary general of Taiwan Digital TV Group (DTVC),
“By 2010, we will realize pure digital coverage all over Taiwan, therefore the ARPU is set to surge," he added.
To speed up the process, Taiwan government will startup a demonstration plot in early 2010.
